To answer your question I am not willing to give up my rights our country and the solders for many years fought to give us our rights and preserve them for each generation that follows and if we gave up our rights that would of all been for nothing.

What rights are you talking about? If you ask me to give up the right to walk into a Federal Office Building without having to walk through a metal detector, frankly that's fine with me.
If, however, you're asking me to give up my right to express my opinion against my government.... or to read any newspaper I want..... or practice any religion I want.... or NO religion if I choose, then these are rights I won't give up.
In the context of this thread, I think clearly the issue is regarding some of the simpler ones like whether or not that metal detector violates my right to privacy. In my opinion, I'm HAPPY to give up that little bit of privacy because I know it's for my own safety. SOME people (yes, like my barber!) feel that giving up just that LITTLE BIT of privacy is the first step toward losing ALL our rights, and I'm sorry, but I just don't agree with that.
So LadyRed, I'm curious.... do you feel that "giving up your rights" is an all-or-nothing kind of thing that you don't want to do? OR do you feel that maybe you'd be willing to give up a little bit of your rights for the sake of protection?

Well,
Once can say we have already given up our rights....
I cant drink and drive, fish downtown, say things out loud because it might offend someone, so I guess I can do with a little more gov squeezing just to make sure that we don't go boom.

First of all, most americans are utterly clueless as to what constitutes a "right" .vs a "freedom" .vs a "privilege.
Our sick, uninformed culture thinks that everythihng it does is some kind of a friggin right. GROW UP!!
The Constitution makes it abundantly clear that CONGRESS will regulate transportation & commerce(air, sea, land, etc). When you are told to take your shoes off at the airport that is NOT a violation of any of your rights. It is a momentary suspension of your FREEDOM to wear shoes.
We have example-after-example of Presidents suspending rights during time of war or conflict. Abe Lincoln suspended habeaus corpus, ordered summary executions without trials, jailed people for incorrect speech, and trashed the 10th amendment to the Constitution.
Franklin D. Roosevelt created the Office Of Censorship which required all media reports on the war to be filtered through that office before being made public. American-Japanese were rounded up by the tens of thousands and confined to camps just for being Japanese.
The few, samll measures that the Bush Admin have implemented since 9-11 pale by comparison to what famous LIBERAL presidents have already done to trash our rights...REAL RIGHTS have been trashed by primarily liberal presidents.
Most of what you do in your daily lives are not rights; they are freedoms and privileges.
