My Name is Jim Lupton. I'm a Ph.D. high school physics teacher with a life long interest in progressive politics, history, religion, philosophy and anything interesting. I'm an atheist-buddhist-christian and I don't consider it a contradiction. I've been arrested protesting the ridiculus, illegal and immoral decisions of my government several times for non-violent civil disobedience including at the start of the Iraq war. I belive that resistance may not work but it is morally demanded of aware individuals under extreme situations like the start of the illegal Iraq war.

My game is reason. I'm open to any particular point of view as long as the facts and reasoning back it up. I hold cold hard reason, science and rationality up to any belief.

My views are extremely progressive or even radical. I believe that the Iraq war is immoral, illegal and the product of western imperalism. I believe that the earth's population is at risk of environmental and economic catastrophy. I believe that individual people are more important than government. I believe that a mexican citizen is no less of a person and no less deserving of rights than myself. I believe that authority is often mistaken and wrong. I believe that drug laws are a direct violation of personal freedom. I believe that liberals and conservatives both have preconceptions and dogmatic positions that are not justified by reason.

I hope that I've found a reasonable place to discuss my views.
