Really interesting article!:
http://travel.howstuffworks.com/flying-car.htm

I'm all up for flying cars. That car looks sweet in the picture Cool. Flying cars wouldn't be posssible I think in a few years, but maybe hovering over the land would be much possible. With flying cars, there won't be much need for roads, not even traffic lights I think?

The thing is, these things will take way too much gas! Gas is already so expensive, can't imagine it being more...

There will still be need for "roads" of a sort. It will never be that we can just fly everywhere - there would still be crashes. Look at airplanes and air traffic control - it is very complicated!

I agree, roads should remain, to consider that if it might happened there's still prefer to go on the road that to have it on the sky.

If flying cars become available during my lifetime, I'm going to legally change my name to George Jetson, and work at a flying car dealership. I would make a FORTUNE!!!!!

Hehe! I think we're a long way from that. Local flight mass transit would come a lot sooner than personally affordable flying vehicles.

That's a good point reviewer, however i can see it coming to do that eventually, if the population keeps growing we will have to have somewhere to put everyone.

Flying car is possible to happen someday. It surely helps to minimize traffic. It made me remembered the movie Star Wars in which other vehicles were flying. And other cars were on the road. Have you seen that movie?

Ahhhh...flying cars have already come and gone. The Waterman Aerobile(1937) flew at 110mph and did 55 mph on the road. Aerocar(1949) is still flying today.

As a pilot, I hope flying cars NEVER become a reality. As badly as humans operate two-dimensional machines(cars, trucks, motocycles, etc), the thought of the average Joe going airborne in a car is a horror story.

Go take a few flight lessons and then let's here you views about flying cars.

You can go to the web and keyup the flying cars I mentioned above and see vidoes of them flying.

There so many reasons WHY the flying car will never become a reality I'm not sure there's enough RAM memory at this site to list them all. But, one of the major reasons is fear of flying. The overwhelming majority of people have a natural fear of heights and the idea of flying themselves around at thousands of feet is just pure horror.

The student pilot drop rates in this country is more than 50%. A lot of this involves folks who thought they could mentally tackle being off the ground, or a serious lack of confidence in actually flying, and then the many, many regulations that must be obeyed with respect to airspace rules, ground rules, weather rules, etc. Then comes learning the basics of aeronautics and your personal abilities at handling a flying machine at all different kinds of attitudes, speeds, and emergency situations.

Finally, because three-dimensional operations require both mental and physical stress and constant mental alertness, you will have to pass a physical exam every two years and demonstrate your flying skills to the satisfaction of a check Examiner.

There is no way in hell, you will ever be able to walk onto a car lot, buy a flying car and then jump it and take for the wild blue yonder...never happen.
