If Presidents could run for a third term, would Bush win again? Do you think Americans would vote someone else in as President? I would think Bush wouldn't win a third term if he was aloud to run again.

Same here.

We have still got Bliar in the UK.

Everybody keeps saying he just can't get in again.

But he does because the opposition is just as weak.

I don't think Bush would win a third term, but part of that is true because he CAN'T run for a third term. In other words, if running for a third term were an option, he probably would have done some things differently during his second term. It's no secret any first-term President avoids certain decisions because he knows there's no way to do certain things and still get re-elected. The fact there is no third term probably prompts him to take a stance on a particular issue that he knows will be unpopular with a particular group of constituents.

I'm really starting to think that this would be a good idea to implement in the UK.

Just out of interest, how did it come about that Presidents can't run for a third in the US?

I'm not sure why someone would vote for Bush over and over again, but I wouldn't

Dolly,
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was elected to four terms. In 1951, congress passed the Term Limit law. It was sponsored by Republicans, fearing the increasing power FDR, a Democrat, gained with 4 terms as President.

Chretien destroyed Canada with three terms and a fourth LIberal term until they lost the last election. The Liberal party raped Canada for over a decade.

please, don't give this up - ever!

and Canada still has no limitation on how long a single person can be in charge...

Well, I must admit there does seem to be some sense to it.

Mrs T went downhill after her first two terms. I think we can safely say T Bliar is doing the same.

Perhaps we should pass it here in the UK.

No way. First of all thats impossible to be third.
second He should not get that. I am always against bush since i never likes his movements against the gulfs. Iraq, afaganistan and now iran get to many distructions all because of him. He did nothing good for the people outside of his country.
