It seems that EVERYDAY the administration anounces that there is increased amount of terrorist alert, and everyone should be on alert. If you live in USA, you would understand, every other week they announce that they're increasing the terrorist alert to red or orange.
whats up with that? they just trying to scare us or is there a REAL threat? |

| I personally feel that these rumors are spread only to get support of people towards wars. Government has to make people understand that war is against Terror but not against the nation. Lol live every day as it comes and be happy. |

| I have to agree with Hani. I think it is just to rile people and have them up in arms and saying "that is what the men are over there for"! Personally I think that we are in one of the safest places on Earth as long as we don't have another communication mishap like 9/11. |

The board is forgetting something extremely important. Sure, lots of fun was poked at the color scheme method of terrorist alerts. However, the truth is there is a lot more to it than colors.
Raising the alert from one level to another is NOT just about an indication to citizens in general terms. Instead, it is directed more to let us know there will be certain things put into motion at various levels. For example, NYC is always on a higher alert than other parts of the country. Therefore, it is commonplace to pass bag checks in subway stations, and Nat'l Guardsmen in bus and train terminals.
The alerts aren't there to say "Hey everyone, be afraid, be very afraid."
They're there to say "Hey everyone, don't be surprised if you have a thirty minute delay going into Lincoln Tunnel today because we've increased security." |

| Coda, well said. There's a social good with the alerts that we all forget about. |

| I think the US Government is trying to use this "A terror can strike at anytime" to be able to spy on us. Honestly, how many terroist attacks have we had in America in the last 4 years or so? If we didn't make so many other countries mad, we wouldn't have to worry about anything. |

| Make other countries mad? Shoot, they are just horribly jealous of us. And would they become a God fearing nation rather then a godless one, they wouldn't have half the problems that they have! |

Well, the World Bank and its ilk have also contributed to third world countries being in bad shape |

Perhaps there have been no serious attacks BECAUSE of the measures put in place. Recent news of plans for the Holland Tunnel and NYC Subway as targets shows the progress made! |
