Okay so first let me say that I have been against this war from the jump. I felt that there was no need to go to Iraq and stir the pot. I am also not a fan of Bush as I feel that he has his job becuase of his family name. I just wonder if we would have been better off with Kerry or would be in a worse position than we already are?

| Some ardent conservatives believe that the Iraq War qould have been better served had the US utilized air strikes repeatedly rather than send in ground troops. I guess anyone can say anything in hindsight as there is no guarantee airstrikes woul dhave worked. While most won't admit it, it is pretty doubtful President Bush would have started this war considering the mess it has turned out to be. |

| Nobody likes to have any kind of war, especially if it involves countries, nations, people, world, lives, etc. I wish that it has never started, and since it has, I wish the parties concerned would be open enough to negotiate and to end this trouble so that people will be at peace and the world safe again. |

| Kerry's nothing but a jerk who lied about getting Purple Hearts - who would trust him to EVER tell the truth about anything? Even the vets don't take him seriously... |

| I wish we didn't have to have this war. It's was a war that was started under false pretense. Bush knew there was no WMD. We all knew there wasn't. I but as for having Kerry in office, no. I would rather have a monkey running America ( I know the Bush monkey joke). I didn't mind Kerry until he lied about the purple heart. |

If Kerry were elected, forums would be less about war and more about health care... or lack of it. Yes, there's a health care crisis; but the Kerry "solution" was not much more than a bumper sticker.
During the election, I asked several Kerry supporters if they'd read the details of his plan posted on his website. None had, but said it would work. There were some details in there that were simply not possible. I checked to see if I could find it before posting this so I could quote some details, but it's nowhere to be found.
I think the war effort has been mishandled, but like an earlier post said, that's easy to say after the fact. Seems to me we had enough time to be more prepared, but again I'm not in a position to know all the facts... few people are. |

Is it a war at all though?
Nobody is bombing the US or us in the UK for that matter.
Yes, we have our terrorist threats, but they can come from groups anywhere in the world.
Politicians seem to have tied us up with fear and semantics.
It just doesn't look like a war from where I'm sitting - over 40,000 civillians have lost their lives - but only on one side of this 'war.' |

| Wars don't have to be fought on the soil of all involved to be considered a war. |

No, they don't. But doesn't there have to be two countries involved?
In this case the people of Iraq never declared war on us, but they are the ones that are dying.
Isn't it why politicians call it a 'conflict'?
Like it or not, we invaded, and as it turns out, without just cause. If the politicians had said in the first place that there were no weapons of mass destruction, but they wanted to go in and sort out the damage Saddam had done, would their own countries have been behind them at all? |

| I completely agree with Dolly, Iraq war was like a fight between a powerful 25 year old man and a week 100 year old man. There is nothing to feel good about this victory. Iraq had no resources to attack; they just tried to stop the invading army. Attack Russia, China or France to see what a War really means and what all it takes. |

Thing is, it's not just the US here, we in the UK are in it as well. And to be honest I don't think the majority of the population think what we have done is right.
There were plenty of protests prior to the invasion, but Blair always held the Weapons of Mass destruction fear over our heads.
Now that it's been proven they don't exist, I think we just look like bullies.
Yes, Iraq had problems and certainly those problems needed addressing to assist the people who were being surpressed, but there has to be another way we could have gone about it.
It's one of those situations now, where we are causing more damage than existed in the first place. |

| FYI: they FOUND WMD in Iraq. They have enough mustard now to neutralize many upon many of thousands. I think there is more to be found and I think folks are going to need to wake up because look at North Korea. they are prone to start nuclear testing. HELLO!! |

Saddam had done the following:
1. Used weapons of mass destruction on people;
2. Attempted Ethnic Genocide;
3. Attacked and occupied the neighboring country for no reason but gain;
4. Executed innocent civilians;
5. Exploited funds from oil-for-food program;
6. Murdered political opponents;
7. Murdered own family members.
There's clear and justifiable reasons that Bush and Blair saw that warranted this attack.
Where was the outrage when we attacked the Balkans because of a ruthless dictator? Saddam is one of the worst dictators we've seen since Hitler. |

Sorry, I don't think ANY country should attack another "to see what a War really means and what all it takes."
War should always be a last resort. |
