Well, I know there's a bunch of young'uns here, and not many have lived for more than 3 or 4 presidential terms...but I was just wondering, which president do you admire the most?

I think Jimmy Carter was one of the best presidents of all time. How he handled everything with a strong attitude and there was a lot of problems with our country at that time which he vowed to fix.

Oddly enough it has been Bill Clinton. Even tho there was always controversel surrounding, he always was a good speaker. I think he has more charisma than any other president before him. We can debate on how good of a president he was, but he was definrtly a good salesman.

I know many will heckle me for this one. Aside from his bad decisions on how to get reelected and how he dealt with it. I would say Nixon. Helped withdraw our troops from Vietnam, the visit to China. Civil liberties and social reform with welfare. There were many many things that he did that were great for this country.
Not only that he so badly aspired to be in the White house that he was relentless about getting there. I mean prior to him being elected. Man what a defeat he had against Kennedy. But Nixon got back up and ran for president again. Determination I would say. Even if he was a "Crook". And he was not from a prominent or wealthy family. He was as poor as a church mouse. He will be a president many will view as a crook. Only if he had not made poor decision in his reelection campaigns, He would be viewed more higly. He led this country through some of its more turbulaent times. War, discrimination, Foreign policies and what not.

You've got to be kidding!? Nixon?? Even Clinton is better. Smile My vote would go for Carter, except for his smile... always gave me a weird vibe. But he's prove to be an exceptional leader including what he's done since he left the White House.

Clinton's nothing but an adulterous jerk who should have been charged multiple times for sexual harassment... if Hillary gets into power then all the women inthe White House should be very afraid!

i've always had a strange affinity for Teddy Roosevelt. something about his strength and presence, perhaps the fact that he inspired the teddy bear, his public works projects... i really dig the legacy/persona that he's left.

I think Carter was the most sincere of modern presidents. He unfortunately inherited a screwed-up position.

As for forward thinking, Thomas Jefferson stands above the rest. It's a shame he didn't catch the irony of slavery.

I think he did, but I think he liked it.

I ran across your post and I think back to my great grandfather who had part of his diary. I think my dad has it now in a safe deposit box.

One passage reads

"Must I feel this way when they are utmost deserving to see the light of day, yet how may I survive without them".

No one mentioned Kennedy, he was a great American president. Nixon and Carter were also good, but what I'll never know is if Clinton had ever been a good president, he wasn't for sure. Therefore, if I've to vote it'll be Carter.

As long as any of you dont mention Kennedy as your favorite.
He had good intensions, but as a political leader he was stupid, and made stupid mistakes. When he lost his PT 109 and was proclaimed a hero because of daddy's political standing.
the only thing that made up for his mistakes is how the press loved him so much that it made him look like one of the best presidents.
Makes you wonder who u need in politics a military force or the press loving u?
