| I'm the biggest voice, some days, on this issue so I call for your thoughts. Are we being unfair? Should we just open up the borders and let the chips fall where they may? |

Ooh, delicate issue.
I know that if we opened our borders from the French side, we would be inundated. |

if you want America to be a third world country - go ahead.
Canada's well on the way, thanks to their liberal immigration policies. Look North and see your future! |

| It seems we take so much heat for our views on immigration. All we're trying to do is control the flow in and out of here. Why is that so wrong? |

We take a lot of heat for our complaints about immigration as well, Mrs Wolfie.
Trouble is it tends to be people in our own country.
I think, it's possibly because none of us really understand the complexities of it. Immigration/illegal immigrants/asylum seekers.
Really the differences need to be defined and put in front of the people. |

| I believe the government must take a stand as to how they are going to go about with the problem of immigration. For me, those who are already in the US, must be dealth with accordingly but not very harsh as these people have also worked hard for US just to be able to live and they risked their lives in going there for their families. There will be sanctions for them but hope it will also be fair enough. For those who haven't started crossing the borders, US must do something to prevent them. |

| people have just become lax about the idea of what a criminal is - it's hysterical to see illegal aliens whine about how they can't be denied services and all that when they're in the US illegally, it's a CRIME that they're here, they're NOT paying taxes and then sending all their money home to store up for their eventual return and retirement... and then expect us to believe that they're really law-abiding citizen wannabees! |

| I'm still on the fence about this subject. I wouldn't think it would so bad if they would get green cards and only allow so many green cards to be given out a year. |

I still think governments have a forward plan when it comes to immigration.
By the year 2020, 45% of the UK population will be over 65. That figure escalates all the time.
I think gov's encourage immigration to a point, to cover this deficit. |

legal immigration, yes - then you can afford to have an elderly population - but when the illegals are sending all their money home and not paying taxes, welll...
who's going to get rich then? |

I don't think any of the illegal immigrants are getting rich here, but like I say I do think the governments have some kind of ulterior motive.
We definitely need to expand our younger population here or there will be nobody to look after the old. Trouble is nobody seems to care whether they are illegal or otherwise.
And we are only a small island |

illegals don't look rich, because they're sending all their money home - it was stated that over two BILLION dollars a year skip from the US to Mexico... the government gets that money into their economy while the US loses it.
how whack is that? |

| To use your eloquent speech, its terribly whacked! And yet, when we try to do something about it as a country, we get spat on. I honestly don't think we're being unfair at all- enough is enough! |

it's a simple economic fact - the illegals send money home, since the US dollar is worth more than the average peso. The Mexican government looks the other way and benefits from millions being dumped into their economy from illegals working here and sending the money home.
so the US economy goes down and the Mexican economy goes up - not to mention the millions lost in heath care fraud and education going to people who have no intention of staying here in their old age and are just "visiting" to get what they want!
throw them all out and fine the companies millions if they hire any illegals, period! |

It is a very good stance, Julian. Probably will never fly but I like your enthusiasm! |
