Mitt Romney: 1st Mormon President?

Mitt Romney is doing really well in MA and he's a presidential hopeful in 2008. Is the country ready for a Mormon president? I'm not a mormon, but I wonder what others think of a mormon president. Would poligamy be an issue if he does run, even if he isn't a poligamist?

What's interesting is that he would be the only candidate that's straight conservative. Yet it could be the conservative wing of the party that won't vote for him.

2008 will be an interesting year.

it should be VERY interesting - I'm looking forward to Lieberman making another run, possibly as an independent since his own party is skewering him.

wish they'd do the same to Kerry.

Yeah, I hear that Lieberman may lose the Democratic primary. Apparently, a lot of Dems are not supporting him because of his support of the war.

I personally like Lieberman and John Edwards - I think they both got screwed over by Kerry in the end - Edwards gave up his seat while Kerry played it safe!

I hope they both keep on trucking...

It will be interesting if Romney can slug it out to get the GOP nomination . However the particular nuances of the LDS faith will be used against him - if only in a sublte manner . The South as of late a GOP bvastion might not hold true for a Mormon candidate Idea

I suspect possibly the LDS leadership in Salt Lake City just might make some minor adjustment in the next year or so to ease certain concerns Idea

As far as Edwards giving up the Senate Seat he purchased in 1998 - well he wasn't exactly headed for reelection anyway & he knew it . His choice for VP was the fatal mistake Kerry made because Edwards added not a single state to the November tally . To this day I wonder who helped Kerry with that choice Question

A 3 way race in 2008 is a good possibility as much of the GOP base is madder than hell over Immigration and Border security . Tom Tancredo can possibly get 15% plus with the Right running mate which means HRC will be President . Some dismiss this due to her HIGH negatives but she will only need maybe 41% in a 3 way race , and in a state by state Electoral breakdown she can rack up maybe 290 Electoral Votes. Rolling Eyes

It sounds pretty disturbing to many and I believe such a development essentially means a terminal slide for the nation. She will not care and the MSM which already has covered for her heavily is overjoyed by such a campaign in 2008 . They will give her a Honeymoon period in office like no one ever before, and what's disturbing is that going in she will KNOW that reelection in 2012 is not in the cards . Therefore she will doscount foreign obligations and focus on consolidating power and dealing with enemies . Unlike Bill she knows the Votes she will never get and has plans for them .

I believe if ever getting the Big Job she never intends to leave .
