Should we have the death penalty? I think the death penalty should be abolished. It is known that we have already excuted an innocent person. My thinking is that if you adminster the death penalty that means you have to murder that person, so shouldn't that be a crime?

I am ridding the fence on this one. The bible says that we should not kill and obviously by taking someones life for committing a crime is just that. On the second hand though what do you do with all the sicko's like Domer once the prisons fill up?

Well thats easy maxium security lock down. I saw on A&E where they put the most voilent offenders in 23 hour lock down and 1 hour of supervised recreation which consists of walking around in a cage. I think this is a worst fate to have than the death penalty.

We should absolutely have the death penalty. Do you crimnals are scared of prison? They get 3 square meals a day, cable tv, and drugs in there and to some peole thats heaven. If you allowed the death penalty you would have every crack head and drug dealer robbing you blind everyday.

Death penalty should be abolished, but they have to seviour the punishments. In India they will order dearth sentence for criminals who involve in RAPE crimes. But I think that?s not the solution. B?coz the criminal dies in no time with less pain, a law has to be implemented where the criminals has to realize what sin they have committed. I agree with mike that criminals are no sacred persons.

it wouldnt cost us much for killing them as it would cost us to give them three square meels a day, entertainment such as television and magazines and all the money is coming from our pockets so wth i dont want to fund a rapist to keep him alive in well shape and still feel happy about it

the ONLY problem I see with the death penalty is that it is not carried out as soon as the sentence is handed down.

The death penalty is a must. I have seen too many people go to prision numerous times for the same stupid so obviously that is not working. Also an eye for an eye only seem fair to me. Look at the cases that the death penalty is implemented in and tell me that it isn't fair? Scott Peterson is the first one that comes to mind and I would like to see his dead yesterday!

I do not want someone to sit in prison (at our expense) after they have done some heinous act. Use Texas justice- swift and quick. I just wish it could hurt them in a not as nice way since they showed no mercy on their victims.

No death penalty - but NO gyms, no television sets, no fancy computers, not even a freaking pad and pencil. Let them rot.

I don't think there should be a death penalty, simply because one mistake is one too many.

But, saying that, I did used to teach in prisons in the UK.

We had some very interesting discussions about the law, and although prison IS a deterrent for some, for the majority it is not.

When I asked them if they faced a punishment such as having a hand chopped off for stealing, nearly ALL said it would be a deterrent.

I guess we have to find some middle ground somewhere.

The problem, Thumper, is we have to pay for it. Its "inhumane (liberals)" to treat them badly. I'm with you. Go ahead and rot. Starve to death. What mercy did you show your victims? What about throw them Gladitor style in football stadium with a couple lions?

It might be worthwhile considering another point. While I was working inside, I discovered that a lot of the lads in there were actually taking the fall for somebody else.

You know, hero worship when they've got in with the wrong crowd and been convinced that it is the proper thing to do.

I was really, really surprised at how many innocent lads were in there.

I voted yes. The reason why I voted yes is, it helps control prison populations. A prison can't be over populated if you get rid of the murderers that are there for life. The murdered someone why can't they die for it?
