Though the First Amendment protects some porn sites. And most allow only visitors 18 and older and require credit card and driver's license numbers for access. Apart from these adult sites they are some insane sites filled with anger and violence. For instance, some Web sites describe how to build a bomb.
Please post ur advises on how can we keep kids away from cyber porn! |

| Maybe you should monitor what youre children do and which sites they look for, in addition then you should teach them which sites to avoid. |

| As a mother it is very scary the type of information that is on the internet. I do however feel that it is my responsobility to closely monitor what my child does as well as try to be as open and honest with my daughter about the not so great things in this world. I think that sometimes you can do a lot more harm when sheltering your kids then the information that they can find. |

I agree witj Justagirl. The best thing to do is be honest with your kids. I have a four years daughter and recently we got satellite TV at home, I never pay for adult channels but I got a couple of them as part of an introductory offer and the block channel feature is not working.
My wife and I have talked to our daugther and told her cartoons are between channels 300 and 400 and that she would have to be with mom or dad is she wants to see movies or anything else. We have told her there are channels only for adults and that a little girl shouldn't see that because is boring, like watching the news .
I've got a smart daughter and she uses the remote to do zapping around the cartoon channels.
When she uses the computer I use to open the sites she visit (Barbie's and Disney's sites for example) and she stays playing and browsing inside those sites. She is not a regular Internet user but she is learning and I will let her know that there are bad things in the world, things only for adults or that are boring for children. I trust my little girl and I think that communication between parents and children is much more important than any blocking technology or filters. |

| don't let your kids keep a computer inside their room - keep it in the public eye and you'll know exactly what's going on. Too many parents abdicating their responsibility to the computer and then they complain when the kid runs off to Jordan or something happens! |

| I trust my kids that I don't filter the internet. Plus my computer is in the living room and me or my wife is always in there watching TV or reading. I feel you can't always be with you kids. What's to say if you child is over a t friends house for the night and they look at porn there? How you going to know? A porn filter is only as good as the parent is. That's my opinion. |

| Educating the kids, guiding them, monitoring them... these are the things that parents must do. Abandoning them, letting them do whatever they want, not showing them you care for what they must do by not even talking to them and taking the time to monitor them... these are the things that parents must never do if they want to raise responsible kids. |

it all starts and ends with the parents. I despise seeing some mother on the telly whining about her daughter running off to meet some sexual predator and saying she knew nothng about it!
lock HER up along with the jerk! you shouldn't be ignoring your kids and tossing them food andmoney all the time while playing mom! |

| still no substitute for having an alert parent - if you don't know where your kids are outside the house, you don't know where they are online... then how can you claim to be in charge? |

In many places "modern life" requires that both parents stay working all day in an office away from their kids, how can they be alert if they are not even there?
Don't you think we need more flexible work practices to be more time with our kids? |

| I agree, there is really no way to be safe, because the other day I was downloading music and on the page there is adult content to link back to the sites. |

| one thing about filters, its good they stop porn sites but they also stop information sites, info that is contrevesial. So they double up as censors. |

| i am only 22 and i don't have children quite yet but, when i was younger i didn't have all of these blocks and netnannies we do now and my parents just always made sure of where i was on the internet and i got along fine i was a maturing boy so somethings did spark interest but the fact that my mother was always in the next room prevented me from anything like that |
