In the past wars, seems like we have lost probably millions of lives, and shed a lot of blood...
Some people say wars are not worth it, shed too much blood, and that we should just live in peace and harmony and give up this war BS.
I say they're living in wonderland, it's impossible to live in peace and harmony. Some wars are definitly needed like the American Revolution, but some wars are just there because some evil guy wants to dominate(hitler).... |

| Wars doesn?t solve anything its just waste of money and lives. Indians have realized this long back and started a nonviolence movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. But not every one is with this movement some thought blood for blood is the replay and Subhas Chandra Bose founded the Indian National Army |

Ah, my friend, but sectarian and religous violence is huge in India. Not just within India, but you see border and cultural disputes between India and Pakastan. |

Xterminator,
I agree with you. Hilter was a brutal dictator and so was Slobadon Milosevich. There was no outrage when we and our allies attacked the former Balkans. Slobadon believed in ethnic genocide and many believed this as a just war.
I just hope that people don't take their personal political beliefs and rationalize that attacking Iraq was because W wanted to. Sadam clearly used weapons of mass destruction to carry out an ethnic genocide of Kurds. Remember the gasing of innocent families?
There are wars that can be justified. |

| true - people forget that Saddam was vicious to his own people, feeding them into wood chippers and gassing the Kurds because he didn't see them as "human"... what do you do when you see things like this happening? Tell them to just "stop"? |

^agreed. in fact, Saddam could be satan's secret brother. But this so called US war against Iraq is uncalled for, in my humble opinion. I doubt if it will solve anything. But one thing is for sure: it's business as usual |

| Wars are justified when responding to an imminent threat or attack and in defense of a weaker nation. |

Maybe the question should be, could we have done it any other way?
When does a war become absolutely unavoidable. Or are weapons the first thing we reach for in our so-called 'enlightened' times. |

| well, Iraq spent fifteen years ignoring UN resolutions over and over - how long do you let the bully get away with something before you put your foot down? |

I think quite a few other suggestions were put forward. I know they were in our government, but none were taken up on.
Trouble is, it's hard to believe at this moment in time that this invasion can be viewed as successful. |

| still, force is sometimes needed to get things done - revolutions are hardly bloodless. |

they're into tribal warfare - just like the Serbs in Bosnia; they're barely above savages in the way they see their neighbors as enemies.
and, just like in other cases, the UN won't stop them from killing each other off because of the shape of their noses or their heritage.
sad. |
