Should Gay Marriages be legal? I am surprised no one has taken up on this hot issue. Many people think since gays cannot pro create without an opposite gender and that it would go against the santicty of marriage. Which many people think was created to preserve the family structure.
Does anyone have any opinion? I did not ask this question for any bashing or discriminatory remarks. I had asked it because it is a hot issue in State and Federal Laws. Should there be a law made to protect the rights of gays? |

| I am all for gay marriage. I don't think that there is any reason why their commitment means any less just because they are two men or two women. I feel that they are entitled to the same rights as everyone else. |

| I think it's the word marriage that a lot of people get stuck on. And the rights issue. I'm all for gays having the same rights as anyone else. But maybe we should rethink it.. like maybe a civil union? or something to that effect. I personally don't care if it's a marriage or a union. At the very least they should have the same thing as any "common law" marriage. |

| Marriage is a state issue as it is the states that ceritify marriage licenses and the bulk of the states are not in favor of it. The only other alternative is if the court systems legalize it and to do so would require applying equal protection under the law. |

I think it should be legal.
My grandfather will not leave me if he got me saying this. Because gays or lesbians are treated like criminals here. But i think they should be treated as normal. Marriage is not just for production of people. Two people should be allowed stay together if they can enjoy each other and if they are happy. |

Yep, I think they should be allowed to be as miserable as everybody else.
Where are you located, Deelip?
Is homosexuality illegal where you are? |

I agree that gays should be able to get married. it's not bothering me that to guys are gay and love each other and wants to get married. Gay people are humans just like all of us...well most of us. |

| I'm ok with gay marriage. We shouldn't discriminate people for sexual preferences, race or religion. Don't you see we are all human? |

I once had a boss who I don't actually think was human...but maybe I'm just paranoid.
It looks like we are in agreement here Alexis.
What exactly is the oppostion to gay marriages in the US? I think it's been made legal in some states but not in others. Any particular objections? |

| Gay marriage is fine. Let people do what they want to do if they don't harm anyone else. |

I think the idea is that if you let gays get married, people will be rushign off to marry their cars, their pigs, etc.
overeaction, to say the least... considering homosexuals make up less than ten percent of the population, it's not a big thing.

Gays to lesbians are made to each other and not Gays to Gays or Lesbians to Lesbians.

| I do believe gay marriage should be legal and supported in this country. I think all it takes is for you to have friends or relatives who are gay to be supportive... |

| I believe gay marriage should be legal, and everyone whining about the "sanctity" of marriage should really take a look around -- so many marriages end in divorce! It's practically a cliche at this point, but I think Britney Spears' 22 hour marriage in Las Vegas a few years ago did a lot more to hurt the sanctity of marriage than gay couples being wed would. |
