| Religions and philosophies have traditionally given humans a very comfortable position in the universe. We had the reassurance of knowing that we were in contact with a power beyond nature which gives the human race love and protection. Like those who sponsor an appeal for funds after any national disaster by saying, "Remember, God spared you," we know that the Almighty has us constantly in mind. |

| In my own situation I am a christian and worship Jesus Christ. My relationship with him provides comfort and security of me knowing that when I leave this world I will be going to a better place and not a lake of fire far more worse than this earth. |

I think religion in general, which is based on faith, is a blanket that we use to make us safe emotionally. Remember, a faith is not a fact, but something we believe in . It's belief that keeps us going and gives us security even when none is there |

yah, it does, but that isn't a reason to believe in a religion. You can be religion-free and and have focus in life and be emotionally and mentally stabled. I think it helps but it's certainly NOT required or anything.
I personally find it emotionally relaxing to believe that someones up there that cares. |

Unfortunately, I think that most religion is meant to give persons a social status. That is why religions like Christian Science are popular, despite how strange they appear. You have to take classes every year and elevate your rank and stuff like that.
I'm a strong Christian, and Jesus Christ is my Lord. I go to a very non-liturgical church. I woudln't say that our church is very 'religious' but we are passionate about pursuing God. I think religion can actually get in the way of the real purpose of Christianity. |

Ok faith is not fact and can be hard to explain. So since you know there is salt. That you tasted, touched and seen salt. But can you do me a simple thing and anwer me what does salt taste like?
I know salt is fact as much as my faith is.
Second we both know that their is atoms. Can you tell me what a atom looks like? We both know there is one. But can you describe what it looks like?
I know that atoms and my faith in religion are both real? |

| For me religion gives me mental and emotional security. Have you encountered sometime that you left alone in a dark, that no one you can beg for help? Or let me say that you are emotionaly down and depressed that you seems to be helpless? Who are you going to beg for a guidance and help? Me the name of GOD/JESUS CHRIST always comes out in my mouth just to let myself feel calm, and with prayers of course. |
