Oprah for President? Last week, a Missouri man opened a store selling only "Oprah for President" merchandise.
"If she runs, she will forever change the heart and face of American politics," Patrick Crowe said. Some people really need to get lives. Razz She has no plans of running.

Do people really have such a high regard for Oprah?

I know she has contributed quite a bit to the country one way or another but I wouldn't have thought people would have considered her suitable for president?

Funny that. We seem to have been hit by a load of 'get out of debt,' programmes as well.

For the last few years, all we seemed to have were making money programmes, usually on property but with a few other things thrown in for good measure.

Maybe it's a measure as to how sentiment is changing. People are starting to tighten their belts rather than splashing out?

I'm happy to hear Oprah does not have any plans to run for President. Not to say I wouldn't vote for her if I had any idea whatsoever what she believes in and stands for. Yes, Reagan was an actor, but he had a political career before running for President, and after he mostly stopped acting. (Yes, I know some say his Presidency was his best acting job... ha-ha, very funny.)

Oprah, on the other hand, has only taken public views for the sake of ratings. Don't get me wrong, I take nothing away from her, and I admire her very much. I just don't think she's made a case for herself as a political leader.

Of course, this could change... So I'm not against the idea of seeing buttons that say... oh I don't know... Oprah in 2020!

there's been quite a few funny television programs that have been based in the future and had Oprah as president!

Naughty of me. Sorry!

I don't have high regards for her. But she did give away free cars (tax not included) to people in her audience. I would vote for her if she gave away free cars to America. Wink

I know that will never happen.

well, the free cars was a scam in a way - most of them sold the cars to pay for the tax they still had to pay whether they kept the car or not!

and don't think she paid retail for those cars!

Don't think she paid for those cars at all... I'm certain they were provided for publicity / advertising by the auto manufacturers. But it was still a successful move for Oprah.

I don't think giving away free cars or freebies will make someone a better President. I know Oprah have a big heart but I don't know if she can handle the pressure of being the president. I guess she's better on talk shows that's her expertise.
