Anyone here shopped on Black Friday? I can't believe the deals out there. My fiance and I got a nice Ipod music boombox for only 39 bucks at Best Buy. When I went to Circuit City, the same thing was selling for 99 bucks.

Anybody has any interesting black friday stories, like being runned over by mobs?

My Black Friday story was priceless in Coda-World.... I stayed up late Thanksgiving night, so I slept in and left the retail mob-handling to others. Then when I finally decided to grace the day with my woken self, I ran some errands (bank, cable co., etc.), then stumbled into the office to catch up on some work without any interruptions!!!!

I'll shop some time in mid-December Smile

A friend of mine stayed up for the 3 am opening in best buy in ohio. He said it was worth it because he got a lcd screen tv for only 100 bucks.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (a November holiday always on Thursdays in the US). It's a big shopping / sale day.

Thanks reviewer for the explanation. We don't have such kind of holiday in our country. We only have a haloween holiday here but not a Black friday.

Basically, Black Friday is the start of the Christmas shopping season, which is a very big deal in the US for merchants. They call it Black Friday as it is usually the day that businesses go "in the black" (rather than "in the red" - that they are finally making a profit over their yearly expenses).

I have always gone out shopping on black Friday, but this year I did all my black Friday shopping on line, still had some great deals but only had to stroll over to my computer instead of fighting the crowd. I like it so much that I will do it again that way next year.

That sounds like a pretty good idea Classyred. I have avoided the stores a lot this holiday and did a lot of shopping online. Much less stress!
