Ever since 9-11 in 2001, I hear how the US is going after Osama Bin Ladin and Saddam Hussein. They send millions of soldiers over to the Middle East to try and protect all these foreign people that are fighting with their own people, basically. Has nobody figured out that this is probably the single most reason why The World Trade Center was blown up? It wasn't just attempted once, but twice! By the same guy, no less.

I think it is time for the US to get their noses out of everyone else's business. Start worrying about your own people. All the unemployment, for instance. All the homeless people you see when you drive through almost any city, in any state. The run-down, abandoned homes you see left to rot. You see all this crime all over the United States. Instead of sending innocent people to other foreign countries, that do not even affect the United States, why not save billions of dollars each year, and start focusing that money on paying off the national debt, curing some disease, fighting all the drugs, violence, crime, unemployment, etc. in their own country?

Every other week the United States is crying about one thing or another. A few years ago, it was all the beef coming in from Canada. Why? It had nothing to do with Canada, but with the United Kingdom where the Mad Cow Disease scare started up. Next it was how these supposed terrorists snuck in to the United States through Canada. They were not causing problems in Canada, so why would Canada be at fault? For that matter, if the United States knew all these terrorists were in Canada, why wouldn't they have informed Canada about the potential dangers of these people? It wasn't the Canadians who were stationed at US Customs booths, who let all these terrorists in to the United States. Even now, you come in to the United States and most of the US Customs officers could not care much less who you are, or what you are doing. They are just sitting there collecting their pay for being present that day. Then there was this big Emerald Ash Borer scare. Bugs travel. It was blamed on Canada because they found a few of them wrecking havoc in some natural forests. Yet, they are also found all over MI, OH, IN, and who knows how much further they have spread. These was a beetle that came in from some Asian country. Probably, on a cargo ship carrying products to sell in half a dozen US stores.

I think it is time the United States stops passing the buck and takes responsibility for their own stupid actions. Why not stand up and fight for all the Big 3 (DCX, Ford, and GM) companies that are closing up shop. Pretty soon, the entire Great Lakes area is going to be tumbleweeds. What are all these unions good for? Why allow all these companies to move in and then pull out when they want to safe a few dollars? Instead, these valueable people who would normally be working at a Big 3 company, or a third-party supplier need to join the Armed Forces in order to have money to put food on their tables so their families don't go hungry. I think it is a pretty raw deal, myself. Having to take your life in to your own hands, literally, just to make a buck. You might as well just be dealing drugs or selling weapons on the streets because either way, chances are, you are going to end up dead fast.

I appreciate your concerns in this thread. But why such a grim outlook? Just recently the big 3 had record sales for this year. I don't think the economic outlook is that bad.

Hope you change your opinion. Remember, news only provides bad news. Why? Because bad news is what gets ratings. There are stuff that never gets reported because it's too positive.

This is only the federal government you are talking about that has a different mandet an job to do. What about the state governments that should do what you mentioned? What about the private sector? The Non-Profit groups, churches, charities, universities, you name it that have huge pockets. Where are all these people who should take care of all the things you talked about?

Saying that the US should have no foreign policy until our internal problems are 100% fixed is naive. We will be affected by events abroad, and we will have to be involved.

It had been always like this where stronger groups protect weaker groups or they want everyone to do the right things, at the same time they might have to fend for their own interest too. This means the U.S. could be playing all these roles and none of the above should be left alone or a blind eye kept on them, because what could follow is anarchy since there are many Sadaams out there.
