I think we as a nation should do something about the raising costs of child care, i am currently a mother of two with a home based business and working on my MBA and have considered going back to my career in marketing but with the raising costs of childcare i just can not see spending a good share of my income on childcare, the sad thing is i have that option but there are many other moms that do not have that choice and have to pay and just can not afford it.

As we all know that taking care of a child is not an easy task. So nanny's/aupairs should received an appropriate amount. Why not just hired someone for a part time basis only?

Unfortunately, in the US, it is not that simple. Child care is very expensive here. In many cases, it is not worth a parent taking a job because the cost of child care plus transportation is barely less than you earn with the job.

I think the costs depends on the area in which you live i can tell you that for me i have two daughters and i was looking at about 1600 a month and i thought that was insane to have someone else watch my children so i decided to start a small part time business and work on my MBA on line. I am hoping when i resume my career in corporate America it won't be as much because my little one will be in school by then and that will save us some costs.

It's really quiet big. I have a friend of mine, she was hired as a nanny and the salary she got by her employer is only $1000 a month. And she's already contented by it knowign that dollar has a big value in our country. So why not try to hired a nanny from the country who offer a big value of dollar?

Hiring a nanny is not an option for most people unless they are quite wealthy. If you are making minimum wage (or slightly more), how can you hire someone since you will have to, in turn, pay them minimum wage?

That is a good point that the reviewer is making, and i think what you are seeing with people who are only making minimum wage that they become stay at home moms, I know child care was high for me and i made a decent income so i can see where people with only minimum wage salaries would have issues.

Anyway as long as you can still manage your time well, so there's no need to hire anyone who can care of your child.
