Yes. They should allow prostitution if people want to do it, but only under the condition that it be regulated by government for health and quality of consumption.
I don't see why it shouldn't be legal for consenting adults if it is done responsibly. |

I have also the same opinion with you.
I am against prostitution. Why should we legalize if it?s only a virus to our community? |

| I think that prostitution should be legal, simply because it would make it so much safer for the girls involved. If it was regulated, they wouldn't be being beaten by their pimps and they could have more of a sense of security. If they don't want to make it legal however, they should at least change the laws a bit -- instead of making it illegal to prostitute, make it illegal to solicit a prostitute. Subtle difference, but a significant one, I think. |

| Having two daughters myself i would not want to see it legalized it might entice young girls to want to get in that line of work thinking they can solve other problems with money, but on the other hand i think that they should give free birth control away and precautions from getting diseases, lets face it as much as we do not agree with the practice girls are going to be enticed by it, its just the nature of the beast, maybe at least we can help protect them. |

| I'm for legalization.... For those on this thread who point out this is the "oldest profession" and that it will always be around, they're right. So why not find a way to regulate it for health and age reasons. Not to mention the taxes that it would generate.... I believe it's safe to say it would qualify under the "sin tax" category, which already produce amazing tax revenue for the government taxing cigarettes and liquor. |

| Legalizing prostitution will only make matters worse we need to remember that these prostitutes are someones daughter and we must do what we can to prevent them from going into this line of work for there own dignity. |

| Why? People don't need a nanny government to protect them from themselves. Prostitution hasn't gone anywhere while illegal - if it was legal, it could be safe and regulated with protection for sex workers. |

| I do agree with the reviewer saying that prostitution has not gone anywhere by being illegal these girls seem to just be enticed more by it but i am a mother of two young daughters and would not want to see this legalized because i think that if young girls thought it was legal they may be more opt to try it, its like the government is giving them the green light to go ahead and try it there has got to be a better solution. |

| In my own basis I strongly disagree that prostitution would be legal. It's already a problem now a days on how to predict prositution as we all know that it's already rampant to young womens. And we know what is it's disadvantages. So how much more if it would become legal? Is it okay for you to watch them grow thru that way? |

Yes, they are someone's daughters. But legalization won't make it more likely for someone's daughter to go into the line of work. If anything, regulatory issues might make it more difficult for some prostitutes to work in the profession legally. More importantly, if it is regulated, these "someone's daughters" would have the benefits of legal workforce laws; dep't of health guidelines; etc. Heck, they'd even be able to legally claim their earned income.... While they'd have to pay taxes on the earnings, they'd be able to go to a mortgage company and say "Look how much money I make as a prostitute... now give me a mortgage so I can properly invest it." I won't even get into how much "tip money" they'd be able to earn tax-free that the IRS would never know about.
All in all, I really don't think the issue should be with whether or not it opens up an avenue for an indecent line of work... the line of work is there, and has been there forever... legalization would just protect those who get into it. |

| Everyone's someone's son or daughter. I would prefer my children, if I had them, wouldn't be prosecuted for a victimless crime because of a religiously-motivated law. |

But here's the question: Is Prostitution immoral?
Last year, a German woman was denied unemployment. Why? She denied an offer to work at a brothel. She was pretty and the agency wanted her to work for the place.
Because in the country of German prostitution is techinically NOT a moral issue, this woman was denied her benefits because she refused to prostitute herself (a legitimate job).
If you find that the woman was treated unfairly, then you might as well feel that there's something immoral. |

| While I don't think anyone will argue that people should not be forced or coerced into being a prostitute, that isn't a good argument to make it illegal. |

You mentioned "religously motivated" law, so I'm assuming you're talking about morality.
If it isn't a morality issue, like the German government says, then why would it concern us if a woman should be coerced to prostitute herself so she can collect unemployment ?
Think of it this way. In the US, we have a welfare to work program. Recipients of welfare work in jobs that they may not like, such as flipping hamburgers in a fast food joint. It may not be something they like, but they are "coerced" to work there if they want to eat and pay bills. To us, we don't care. They need to work to collect welfare checks. Flipping hamburgers isn't a big deal.
But to many of us, when we hear about the German woman, we cringe. Why is that? It's not because she's simply being "forced" or "coerced" (like the fast food joint), but it's because the very act of making someone prostitute herself is morally objectionable. |

Prostitution should be legal, it is without a doubt a moral question.
But those few that are poor or live on the streets, they have to do something, and people would rather prostitute than starve. |
