I read today on a website that visit daily that the US officials announced yesterday that changes were made to the airport screening process. It seems now that they are going to allow small scissors and screwdrivers back on board airplanes again. Does anyone else see a problem with that? Although on the contrary I can see an editorial cartoon spawning from this and it will feature an Iraqi or Afghanistani with a towel around their head holding a pair of small scissors while the airplane pilot is holding an AK47.

you know how this sounds... Its like someone who wants to take over the world..... with a pair of sicors or screw drivers.... Come on what can you use them for? They are harmless... And the screening process... well it does not make any difference i wont get my visa inside your country applied 6 times... not got it... Lost hope....

It just goes on to show that the government is now a little less scared, now it allows scissors/screwdrivers, few years down the line it will allow pistols and then grenades..lol
but seriously, it made me laugh when they actually banned these things on the airplane.

Oh you would be surprised what can be put together to make a weapon. Heck look at MacGuyver he could make a bomb out of a piece of gum and a battery. All seriousness I know that the screwdriver and scissors won't really do anything but I just hope its not a sign of them dropping their homeland guard.

Personally, I think that someone who wants a weapon on a plane can get one. You can buy ceramic knives that you could hide anywhere on your person, and if you didn't get selected, then they'd never find it till it was too late.

I can't imagine a reason why someone would need scissors or a screwdriver on a plane, but I guess some people like to have them...

That is very true. I am a full believer that if it?s your destiny to die in a hijacked plane it?s going to happen no matter how tight the airport security is.

IMO, the only thing that can make a difference is armed US Marshall's on planes. I also support the unarmed self-defense for flight attendants

Well you can do some pretty gruesome damage with some scissors and a screwdriver tho. I think now tho that people are prepared to fight if another plane was hijacked, so this would make scissors and screw drivers pretty ineffectice. They might be able to kill one or two people on a plane and then they be subdued.

A simple solution to that problem let them carry all these things in their bag and since the bags as long as the bags are in the cargo bay it should be safe as long as he is not carrying an explosive

i say, there should be armed gaurds by the cargo bay on each plane. all we need are two gaurds in healthy shape to be effective in case of hijacking we should be allowed to transport sharp objects in our baggage then but not in the carry on board baggage.

I think we should require everyone to bring on the plane ten inch knives that way if terrorists try to hijack a plane we can cut them up into little bitty pieces and flush them down the toliet. These guys only respect voilence, so lets do like they and start torturing them and then we will be a whole lot more respected.

While your idea is entertaining I think that would just put us on their level and make the whole issue worse. I would say we need to stop letting people into this country but the problem is who knows how many terrorists are already here.

That's terrible. I think the only reason they do that is related to tourism. Just because of all the screening, some people don' even want to come to this country anymore and it's because of all these checkpoints. I still think they should screen as much as they do for those items!

this goes back to my idea of adu graib... i see nothing wrong in what the soldiers did to the prisoners. i love the idea of torturing a random terrorist for blowing up some building. just imagine it. breaking there fingers in how many places just for the deaths of people. the terrorists deaths should be very slow and painful as i always like to say
