| It still amazes me today that we can put a man on the moon but we can't cure cancer. Day after day innocent people and children are diagnosed with this horrible disease and nothing can be done to cure it. To me that makes no sense. God please help us! |

Oh well at least they were kinda on the moon
I have thought for a long time that they actually have a cure for cancer by the FDA won't approve it because there would be a tremendous loss of funds for research and development. I am very bitter about this subject because I lost my 16mo. son Vincent to Leukemia in 2003. It seems like anymore cancer is spreading faster and faster. |

Oh, I am sorry for that. It really hurts when such thing happens....
look here also, instead of funding for research on cancer cure, the guv is spending more on the iraq war which is useless i guess.
Look at the real issues guv..get up!
btw the moon thing, i think ill post a topic on that in the conspiracies thread |

| I would like to know if the rate of cancer is going up. I wonder if anyone has any statistcis on how many people get cancer today compared to 50 to 100 years ago. |

If you visit cancer.org they have some wonderful statistics there but unfortunately they do not go back that far.
They estimated that there would be 1,372,910 new cases this year alone. It seems like its getting worse and worse each year. Cancer does not discriminate. I would be interested to know on average how many people know a relative or friend who has cancer.
Myself I can count 3 cases that are family or friends. |

| Why does it amaze you? I mean, think about how complex cancer is, it's not something we can find out as easily a math solution. Given that it is also difficult, but math is something we had the tools for, it was just a matter of doing |

| I think their is cure for cancer but only if it is identified in early stages. All countries have enough resources to develop and improve their nuclear power, but they don?t have enough research funds for inventing medicines. |

It amazes me because I fully believe we are capable of curing cancer no matter of its complexity and if we focused on it rather than wasting our time and resources on other crap that is unimportant then we may accomplish something and innocent children like my son may still be alive rather than dieing from a disease that is not meant for them. |

My grandfather died of brain cancer. Diagnosed with it 3 months before he died. My aunt of stomach cancer, she lived misearbly for 7years before she passed. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. My uncle had skin cancer still alive. My other uncle had cancer in the spin, tumors were removed and is doing fine. My sister had cancer, the dr's had to remove one of her falopian tubes 21 years ago. She is ok today and has had two children.
I think there is some advances with certain cancers, not for all. It all depends what stage they get the cancer. It still saddens my heart that there is help with meds and technology. The FDA just wont release them to the general public without out 10 or 20 years of research. I too wish they would spend more time and money in this field of science. And get the treatment and aid to the general public alot quicker. |

The problem is that we cannot cure cancer now is that because its is a genetical desease. Its in our DNA, when the tumors break out, and we stop them, the patient must keep taking chemo, or radiation or what ever else for the rest of his life. Not only is this expencive and destroys your health, cancer adapts to the treatment. Thus we must increase doses, but we make the cancer more powerful.
An old friend died from cancer he had cured a long time ago, but had to keep getting chemo, he was old, and the cancer rose up again and in the end he died.
So, the problem we must solve is how to treat the cancer on the molecular level, in the DNA, and stop its spread into the future generations from parent host.
And the other problem is that we simply do not know enough of the human genetic code. |
