| If the Christian faith is a false belief, why is it so widely debated? Why is the very name of Jesus so powerful that it can cause an absolute uproar when words like "Buddah" and "The Pope" cause nary a stir? |

| Being a Christian/Catholic, I couldn't understand why people don't believe and much worse, curse the name of Jesus in front of others when they themselves don't know the real things that happened in this world. Granting that we are not sure because all of us alive now were not really 'there' when Jesus was here, many people take the opportunity of making this a question and a big problem. They don't want to believe, then it is up to them, they must not dictate the minds of people and they must be polite to those who have different beliefs that theirs. |

| Well put, Geline. And yes, you are correct- we were not "there". However, we have the text I believe to be the inspired word of God (the Bible) and more importantly, you have to have faith. When you start looking around at nature and the way things work, you understand none of this is chance and a masterful Creator had to be at hand. And then everything else, at least to me, falls into place.. |

We should respect what everyone believes, right.
Theists or atheists, we are all human beings, isn't that much important than debating about things we are sure many won't agree?
Just talking about Jesus or Muhammad won't make us better human beings, we have to start acting and doing good things, simple beliefs without doing something about it won't take us anywhere. |

| This is always delicate for me. I respect people's right to believe what they want but I don't respect their choice. The far out nonsense some folks would rather believe then what the Bible states boggles my mind. For instance, I have a friend who would rather believe in alien mind washing then in God who loves Him and simply wants his faith. I just do not get it. |

Well, the fact that something is false doesn't necessarily mean it won't be discussed. There are lots of false beliefs that stick around. I like the way Richard Dawkins deals with this issue when he discusses evolutionary memes.
Really, many religions that stick around like that do so regardless of whether they are "true" or objectively beneficial because they are good at replicating themselves and maintaining influence. It doesn't matter if they are false or harmful, as long as they have characteristics that make us interested in them and spread them.
It's also a cultural thing. It's not true that in every culture people are fascinated by Jesus. It depends where you are. In the United States, yes, because the nation is highly religious (sadly imo). People have associated the religion with goodness and comfort probably due to some pavlovian association learning technique during hard times or childhood. |

I assume you live in the US, with a Christian tradition - so of course we debate Christianity, as it's the majority faith, not Zoroastrianism!
And if you think the Pope doesn't cause a stir, try going into a Lutheran church sometime! |

I am a Christian and I have no problem if poeple have different religion. As a Christian we do not dictate and force others about our faith. We share some insights if asked and we do tell them about what we believe. I have friends that are non-Christians and I do love them and respect them wholeheartedly. |

| Because that is the major religion in America. If Buhdism was dictating politics people would be against that too. |

Im a Orthodox, and i rather people being better, trying to live up to the heroes from the Bible, The world used to be a christian for the most part, and it was a better place to live in, no sexual predators, etc.,
Even if its all a lie, I would rather have kids thinking What would Jesus do? everytime they have a chice to do whats right and whats wrong.
Life would be better, as long as the Bible is not misinterpitted, but alas we are human, and human beings always misinterpit things into their own profit.
So who should we really blame for all those Crusades, killings, reliougius wars? the religion? or mankind?
Those who are athiests claim that oh theyre christians and yet look what they did.
No, they are not christians, at least not how christians are described in the bible. They are people that pretend to be christain to thir own advantage.
But i got to say, we all ow it to the Roman Catholics from saving the world from the Muslim invadors.
Who knows? if it wernt for them, we would never be able to live with the choice to act according to our free will today.

The oldest and most influencial religion in the world started by a Persian prophet.
Believed that Christinaity and other religions took their core beliefs from it.
It includes: God, Satan, heaven , hell, ressurection and sin. Basically the roots of Christianity as well as other religions. |

Ahhhh...islam was created some 600 years after Christ was crucified and ascended to the right hand of father. Little Muhhammad was the hothead who penned it and enforced it with war, beheadings, torture and the gathering of wealth and empires unto himself, unlike Jesus. |

| LOl, muhhamed married himself into wealth to a 40 something year old widow at a very young age, and claimed that Archangel Gabriel appeared to him about 2400 times! Gabriel appeared only 3 times to Jesus! |
